Sports & Activities

QSI Shenzhen students benefit from comprehensive sports and extracurricular activities from Early Years through Secondary IV. Physical Education and extracurricular activities are an important part of the QSI Shenzhen student experience, giving students meaningful opportunities to stay active, build confidence, and develop healthy lifelong habits. We strongly believe that a high-quality sports program helps students improve physical fitness, strengthen friendships, and take part in valuable learning experiences beyond the classroom.

QSI's athletic program also gives students the chance to develop sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and perseverance as they become active members of the school community. Students can participate in a wide range of sports, including soccer, basketball, volleyball, badminton, touch rugby, and cross country, with opportunities to grow their skills and represent the school with pride.

We are also a proud member of the Association of China and Mongolia International Schools (ACAMIS), the Southern Delta Region Conference (SDRC), the Pearl River Conference (PRC), and the Shenzhen International Schools Athletic Conference (SISAC). Throughout the school year, middle school and secondary students take part in memorable athletic events hosted by these conferences, where they can challenge themselves, compete respectfully, and celebrate achievement as part of a larger international school community.

After School Activities

QSI Shenzhen offers a diverse range of after-school activities that benefit all children by promoting their physical, social, and emotional development. These activities vary by campus and age level, ensuring that every student can find something that interests them. Past offerings have included sports like soccer, volleyball and basketball, as well as creative pursuits such as sewing, robotics, ballet, and chess. Participating in these extracurricular programs helps students build essential life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and time management. Additionally, these activities foster a sense of community and belonging among students, allowing them to form friendships outside of the classroom. By engaging in after-school activities, children not only enhance their academic experience but also develop a well-rounded skill set that prepares them for future challenges. Overall, QSI's commitment to a rich extracurricular program ensures that every child has the opportunity to explore new interests and maximize their potential.

Experiential Learning Week

In the spring, primary, middle school and secondary students participate in Experiential Learning (EL) Week, designed to allow them to explore subjects or projects, reflect on their learning, and communicate its relevance. Projects fall within five themes: How the World Works, Service Learning, Past/Present/Future, Fine Arts, and Team Building. This program enables students to break away from traditional classroom routines and engage in a variety of hands-on activities. Experiential Learning Week typically includes both local and international opportunities. Activities around Shenzhen allow students to participate in experiences related to their interests, while international trips enhance their cultural understanding. Past offerings have included 3D printing, drone racing, and cooking, along with themed trips to Australia, Japan, Spain, the UK, and the USA.
